About Us: The Journey of Food Machinery Services (FMS)
Food Machinery Services (FMS) has a unique and storied history that highlights our commitment to excellence and innovation in the food machinery sector. Our journey began with Petone Engineering Limited (PEL), a general engineering business purchased by Chris Molenaar in 2004. Under Chris's leadership, PEL quickly became renowned for its expertise in repairing food machinery equipment, addressing both mechanical and electrical issues with skill and dedication.
As PEL's reputation for quality food machinery repairs grew, so did the demand for specialised services. By 2019, this niche business had expanded to the point where it became necessary to establish FMS as a separate entity, allowing us to focus entirely on the food machinery sector. While PEL transitioned to concentrate on commercial structural steel and seismic strengthening, FMS dedicated itself to becoming the premier service provider for food machinery.
Our evolution didn't stop there. Recognising the needs of our clients, we expanded our services to include a team of Electrical Service Technicians (ESTs), certified Electricians, Fitters & Turners/Engineers, Refrigeration & HVAC technicians, as well as additional services such as plumbing, gas, and building services. This comprehensive approach ensures that our clients receive all the support they need from a single, reliable source.
At FMS, we pride ourselves on our solutions-focused attitude, led by Stu Masson. Stu and the entire team are committed to finding the right solutions for our clients' challenges, often looking beyond our core services to deliver exceptional results. This dedication to client satisfaction is why our services have grown and diversified—because to us, it made sense to meet all our clients' needs under one roof.
Our well-equipped original workshop remains a testament to our roots in general engineering, enabling us to tackle any engineering or electrical challenges our customers may face.
